Are you one of Lauren Jauregui’s Angels? How many of these 9 social issues do you actively support?

You can make a difference too

In a world that becomes more and more confusing and scary every single day, Lauren Jauregui is our shining beacon of positivity.

She has always been very vocal about her views regarding important global issues and she has thrown herself even further into political activism with increased vigour in 2017.

We all know how Lauren feels about Standing Rock, and today it looks like her fears have been justified. CNN announced today that a leak has been found in a pipeline just 150 miles away from the proposed site of the Dakota Access Pipeline with 176,000 gallons of oil having been spilt.

And this isn’t the only time Lauren Jauregui has been proved right in her political activism. She has shown her support for a wide range of critical issues recently, from feminism to freedom of speech:

1. Women’s March

Lauren was definitely Team Hillary in the 2016 election and, like the rest of us, she was hit hard by the US public’s decision to choose Donald Trump as president. Trump’s policies pose a great threat to the advances made for gender inequality in recent years and Lauren made her thoughts on this known by attending the Women’s March last weekend:

“I’m marching for human rights in general, because the upcoming administration has clearly made a statement about who they support and what kind of regime they intend to instill. I’m marching for women, I’m marching for the LGBT community, I’m marching for immigrants. I happen to fall into all three categories, so I’m marching for myself at the end of the day and for my family and my friends. And for whoever else deserves it.” (Interview quote from Nylon)

This is why Lauren is the type of pop star we need in 2017

2. Feminism

Of course, Lauren supports gender equality in a political sense, but she has also worked hard to change people’s perceptions in other contexts as well. Being part of a girlband who sing about sex people were quick to put Lauren into a particular box in order to diminish her voice, but she hit back at the slut shamers and affirmed Fifth Harmony’s purpose.

“We have an energy about us that’s so unique and so intense, and it’s because of how much power we have in us as individuals, being confident, harnessing that power, and wanting to share that with other women. I feel like a lot of women hang on to our message, and it empowers them.”

Here’s why Fifth Harmony isn’t just a girlband, it’s a feminist movement

3. Freedom of speech

Lauren knows what America stands for and unlike some people she hasn’t forgotten the importance of The First Amendment.

Lauren Jauregui is worried for our freedom of speech and with good reason

4. Human rights

Lauren Jauregui doesn’t ignore international issues either. She used her platform to make people aware of he injustice that happened and still is happening in Syria.

5. LGBTQ+ rights

“I am a bisexual Cuban-American woman and I am so proud of it.”

At the end of last year Lauren came out as bisexual in an open letter to Donald Trump. It was such a brave move which will be point of inspiration for LGBTQ+ teens for years to come.

6. Body confidence

Lauren leads by example to show us all that we should love our bodies no matter what shape or size we are.

7. Cyberbullying

People have previously attacked Lauren for her political opinions, but she isn’t afraid to hit back at trolls like the queen she is.

Here’s why it’s not OK that people attacked Lauren Jauregui for expressing her political opinions

8. Climate change

Let’s be real, climate change is definitely a thing. Lauren recently retweeted this tweet to her follows which completely proves that it exists, despite Donald Trump’s protests.

It’s no wonder why Lauren Jauregui is your inspiration. In fact, she is constantly empowering millions of people around the globe to get involved and support worthy causes. Which of Lauren’s favourite causes do you support actively?

Check through the list and let us know how you specifically support the causes in the comments box below so Lauren can be proud of you.
