“America’s so beautiful in theory” – Lauren Jauregui is worried for our freedom of speech, and with good reason

The queen has SPOKEN

ICYMI, Donald Trump officially comes into office in 10 days time, and we are FREAKING. To be honest with you, it still doesn’t feel real. We’ve still not *quite* come to terms with what’s about to happen, and we’re not afraid to say it.

Fortunately, though, we have absolute babeoid Lauren Jauregui on our side to guide us through the madness. All hail.

It’s pretty evident that LJ isn’t usually hesitant to speak up about the things which really matter to her, and the whole Donald Trump saga has been no exception.

Earlier this week, Lauren took to Twitter to make this statement about the First Amendment:

Shortly after posting the tweet, she said this:

Oh Lauren :(

While we can’t say for sure why Lauren posted the tweets, we have a sneaking suspicion that she could be talking about the impending event of Trump moving into the White House and how the First Amendment could be used for all the wrong reasons.

Lauren’s been pretty vocal in regards to American politics, and has made no secret of the fact that she was a Hillary supporter during the recent election.

Lauren Jauregui for president? After this act of kindness, someone needs to start a petition

QUIZ: What % Lauren Jauregui are you?

You let us know why Lauren Jauregui is your inspiration and we are officially in tears

Following Trump’s victory in November, Lauren penned an open letter where she addressed the President-to-be’s supporters. In the letter, she said:

“You voted for a person who built an 18-month campaign off the back of your hatred. […] He manipulated ALL of you with such ease by speaking to the darker parts of you that had started to feel ashamed about the way you viewed the ‘politically correct’ world. He became your champion, because he spoke to the parts of you that think you are superior to the rest of us (just like Hitler did in Germany before the Holocaust! Just read his autobiography: Mein Kampf)….We are not America indivisible any longer, we are united on two separate sides; Love and Hatred. We are not ‘whining’ about our presidential choice losing, we are screaming battle cries against those whose political and personal agendas threaten our lives and sanity. We are making sure you hear us, no matter how much it bothers you, we EXIST.”

With such strong opinions on what the rule of Trump could mean for freedom of speech and the voice of America, it seems natural that Lauren’s doing everything in her power to remind us that we shouldn’t be afraid to fight against hatred.

Unsurprisingly, the Twittersphere is now calling for Lauren to stand for President in 2020, and to be honest, we could not agree more. ‘President-elect Lauren Jauregui’ has a ring to it, right?

Lauren’s tweet has also sparked debate, and has got people thinking about what freedom of speech *really* means:

Ultimately, though, we can all agree on one thing – we seriously appreciate the way in which Lauren uses her fame to raise awareness of important issues:

Although we can’t do anything about Trump’s presidency right now, we can take Lauren’s advice and do everything in our power to prevent freedom of speech being used for evil. It seems undoubtable that there are some pretty testing times ahead of us, and we need share as much love as is physically possible, so no race, religion, gender, sexuality or ethnicity is left out.

What do you think about Lauren’s tweets? Do you think she’s right to worry for the future of America? Do you want her to stand for President herself? Leave a comment below and let the world know!

  1. I think it’s wonderful that someone like Lauren who is using her position to open up and talk about issues which directly affect her and the young generation of fans who will have live through his presidency . There are so many instances where we feel pressure to just accept everything we’re told as gospel, but I definitely see the power in the freedom of speech especially when it allows people to express their thoughts and feelings whichever way they see fit.

  2. It’s one thing to have free speech, but it’s another to have manners and respect. It’s the age-old thing of ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it’ – didn’t whatever he spawned from ever teach him that?

  3. FINALLY. CELEBS USING THEIR PLATFORM TO HELP THEIR VOICES BE HEARD. SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY CARES. 10/10 to lauren for doing this, 5h have so many young female fans and I can’t even imagine the insane amount of positivity she’s spreading by educating others. LOVE IT
