Q&A with Catherine Doyle, author of the explosive ‘Blood For Blood’ saga

Cat Doyle BioColour-2We got the chance to chat to ‘Blood For Blood’ author, Catherine Doyle, about ‘Vendetta’ and ‘Inferno’, her inspiration and what books she thinks should totally be on your TBR. Check it out:

Who are your biggest inspirations in writing right now? I absolutely love Maggie Stiefvater. I think her books, particularly the ‘Raven Cycle’, are so fresh and original, and poetic. Her characterisation is so strong, and she’s also phenomenally talented at both art and music as well. She’s released book after book, and they just get stronger every time. She must be a sorceress. I am also mildly obsessed with Sarah J. Maas. Everything she writes is so swoon-worthy. She is the Queen of YA Romance.

Do you have a favourite book? We’re always looking for additions to our TBR! My favourite book right now is ‘The Wrath and The Dawn’ by Renee Ahdieh. It is perfection. Romantic, tense, thrilling and incredibly compelling. I have the ebook but I just ordered the hardback too. It’s one of the few books that I’ve read over and over again.

People are loving the Blood For Blood saga. Was there ever a moment when you doubted its success? I always believed in the story and the characters, particularly Sophie, but certainly at the very beginning when I was knee-deep in extensive edits, I was afraid that I would lose the essence of the story. Thankfully, I didn’t, and readers are really starting to embrace these lovely (and slightly dangerous) Falcone boys!

Do you remember when you got the idea for ‘Vendetta’? Or at least, its inspiration? Yes! ‘Vendetta’ was inspired by an image that popped into my head one night as I was falling asleep. There was a crumbling white mansion, and in front, five boys were standing side-by-side, doused in shadow. I was looking at them from across the street, through the eyes of someone else, and I just knew I had to tell her story. I was a ‘Disney Kid’ and a ‘Godfather teenager’, so die-hard romanticism and dark twists and thrills are woven inside the series.

We know Book 2 has just been published, but can you give readers any indication what to expect from Book 3? High stakes, romantic moments, a lot of demise, and one big twist…

If you had to pick a Falcone brother, who would you choose? Luca all day everyday.

Finally, because we all want to know where the magic happens, send us a picture of where you write. Sure thing!
