MP! Style Guide: 4 tips to help combat the dry skin on your face

Dry skin can be really frustrating. It takes the glow right out of your face and leaves you looking and feeling lifeless. But combating the dryness doesn’t have to be so hard. Just follow these recommendations to get your skin happy and moisturized in no time.

Turn down the heat

It’s tempting in the colder months to crank up the shower and the thermostat, but this is the time of the year when skin is driest. Hot air and water dry skin out, so either turn down the temperature, or keep showers shorter. And pull out some blankets!

Stay out of the sun

Sun exposure can dry out your skin, and sunburns cause real damage. Coupled with wind, the skin on your face can really suffer. Cover up with seasonally appropriate accessories when outside, like hats and scarves.

Moisturize properly

The key to moisturizing well is to do it after washing your face to lock in the water. Use a moisturizer with SPF to help with that whole sun exposure thing, too.

Dead skin will build up on your face without proper exfoliation, making your complexions dull and your foundation cakey. Smooth everything out by exfoliating.
