It’s been less than a week since the season finale of ‘Riverdale’ and we’ve got A LOT of questions. Too many questions, in fact.
How on earth are we supposed to wait a whole year for the next season?! We wan’t answers now and we all know that Veronica would not stand for this.
Obvs, the question on the top of our list is who the heck shot Fred Andrews? And, more importantly, is he going to die? We also need to know who Betty’s secret brother is? Oh and speaking of Betty, what’s in store for Bughead? Do they break up?!
Ugh, we’re getting dizzy just thinking about all of it.
But, fret not, ‘Riverdale’ lovers because we’ve scoured the internet to find everything there is to know about the upcoming season.
Sure, show runners plan on keeping some things *coughs* Fred’s shooter *coughs* under wraps, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t willing to tease about other potential plot lines.
What’s the main storyline for season 2?
According to showrunner, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, season 2 will pick up straight where season 1 left of and it will focus on a darker, Archie. He explained to The Hollywood Reporter how Fred being shot will impact our fave redhead:
“It absolutely changes Archie and sends him on his season-long journey, which — without giving too much away — starts in a really dark place That journey is for sure the spine of season two, and the question of who shot Fred and why is absolutely at the forefront of the beginning of our season.
What will happen to Bughead?
In the same interview with THR, Roberto goes on to talk about the future of Betty and Jughead. He said that they’re ‘very much together’ in season 2, but there relationship is on the line.
After all, Jughead is going to a complete different school now, living in a different area of town and is potentially getting more involved with the Southside Serpents.
If that wasn’t enough, then there’s also the fact they they could be related – say it ain’t so!
Will we be seeing Betty’s brother on the show?
We for one, sure hope so! In an interview with TV Line, Roberto said:
“I wouldn’t be surprised, and that’s all I’ll say about that.”
Hmmm, not sure about you but we definitely reckon he’s got something up his sleeve.
Will there be any new additions to the cast?
Yes, there will. Mark Consuelos will be playing the dangerous Hiram Lodge.
According to Roberto, Hiram will put a strain on Archie and Veronica’s relationship, so we’re looking forward to see how that pans out.
There’s also a brand new Reggie. As most fans know, Ross Butler has to leave the show due ’13 Reasons Why’ getting picked up for a second season.
Charles Melton will be taking over the character and you’ll be drooling after you see him.
You might also recognise Charles from ‘Glee’ and ‘American Horror Story’. With that kind of experience, he’ll no doubt ace the role.
Will Sabrina the Teenage Witch make an appearance in season 2?
Ever since ‘Riverdale’ aired fans have been questioning whether Sabrina the Teenage Witch will be making an appearance in it.
Though, there’s no conformation that show runners will be casting someone to play Sabrina, Roberto did say that the show will continue to hint at the supernatural elements featured in the comics. Roberto told Entertainment Weekly:
“If Season 1 is a murder mystery, it won’t necessarily be another murder mystery. We’re telling, for us, kind of the best version of a murder mystery: who killed Jason Blossom? So whatever twist in genre element that we add in Season 2, it’s going to be different from that and probably, I think, it’s going to make people go, ‘They’re not really doing that, are they?’”
Does this mean we’ll be seeing more eerie zombie, dream-like sequences, too?!
Will Polly have her twins?
She will indeed – although we couldn’t think of a worse time to have them with Hiram stirring up trouble.
Will Kevin have more of a storyline this season?
Casey Cott, the actor who plays the beloved Kevin, has been promoted to a series regular, next year. This basically means he’ll be getting heaps more screen time and tbh we’re over the moon about it!
When will season 2 be out?
Ugh, we wish we knew, guys and gals. No official release date has been announced yet. That said, filming is due to start in June. So, keep your eyes peeled on the cast’s Instagram pages. As soon as KJ Apa rocks those ginger locks, you know it’s all systems go!
