MP!er Nicole is definitely going to hunt down a copy of ‘Lobsters’ after loving ‘Never Evers’ so much.

Never EversLucy Ivison and Tom Ellen’s ‘Never Evers’ is the fun, quirky story of ski trips, french pop stars and a first kiss or two. There’s ex-ballet dancers, impromptu igloos and, of course, an illegal smuggled hamster. It’s such a brilliant, hilarious book, we literally just couldn’t put it down. But you don’t have to take our word for it, check out what MP!er Nicole thought of it here.

Name: Nicole

Have you already read ‘Lobsters’, Lucy and Tom’s debut novel, or is this your first time reading a book by them? No, but I definitely intend to hunt down a copy of ‘Lobsters’ after I enjoyed ‘Never Evers’ so much.

Did the school trip all the characters go on, remind you of any of your own? I wish! A ski trip would have trounced visiting a farming museum every year! I really loved the setting, it only added to the story. A snowy, hot chocolate-fuelled first love romance is pretty much the dream school trip.

If you had to recommend this book to a friend, what would be the best thing you’d tell them? e.g. writing, humour, characterisation, plot etc. I really love the laugh out loud moments and the romance, but for me, this portrayal of female friendships was so wonderful. I really loved how it showed the highs and the lows in a realistic way.

Did you have a favourite character? Tell us why! Oooh, so hard to choose, but I’d pick Mouse. It was really refreshing seeing how she just rose above things even when so-called friends were treating her horribly.

Can you remember your favourite line or scene? “Oh, Ron Weasley…you fictional ginger stud.”

What was your favourite band name?
Never Evers, closely followed by Psycho Sex death Squad

Rate out of 10. 7.
