If you’ve binged watched a whole heap of shows over the break, then you may have come across the popular show, Grey’s Anatomy.
If you haven’t watched it yet, jump on the bandwagon because you are missing out on some quality television. Also, you may want avoid the rest of this article (unless you like MAJOR spoilers).
If you have, then prepare yourself for the ultimate throwback to the top 10 saddest moments from the past eleven seasons.
10. HENRY’S DEATH
After half a season of Teddy moving on and accepting Cristina and Owen together, she fell in love with one of her patients, got engaged, and then it all ended in tragedy. Tears were shed.
9. CALLIE’S AND ARIZONA’S CAR CRASH
A car crash is always emotional – especially when it involves one of your favourite couples and one of them is pregnant. Good life lesson – never take your eyes off the road.
8. THE SEASON 6 FINALE
This entire two-part episode was an emotional rollercoaster. From Meredith finding out she is pregnant, to Alex getting shot, to Derek getting shot, to Cristina being held at gunpoint during surgery – just pass the tequila.
7. MARK SLOAN’S DEATH
After losing the love of his life, it made sense to kill off McSteamy so he could rejoin her in the afterlife – still ripped out our hearts. Our hate for Shonda rises.
6. DEREK GETS SHOT
The collective “oh my god” heard around the nation as our McDreamy was shot point blanc in front of Meredith and Cristina – so done! Thank god there was an episode straight after, otherwise twitter would’ve been in a meltdown.
5. GEORGE’S DEATH
After half the season dealing with Izzie’s cancer, fans were sure she would be the one to get killed off. However, in the last five minutes of the season 5 finale, the tide turned and both Izzie and George’s lives were on the line. Pass the tissues please.
4. APRIL AND JACKSON’S BABY
In one of the most heartbreaking episodes ever, fans were torn to shreds with the passing of April and Jackson’s baby minutes after birth. We don’t think anyone made it through the episode without releasing the floodgates.
3. LEXIE’S DEATH
The plane crash that should have never happened. Lexie’s goodbye to Mark before she died had us all in tears and all hating Shonda because of it. MARK AND LEXIE = OTP.
2. DENNY’S DEATH
The death that has everybody, to this day, crying whenever they hear Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. Our hearts broke along with Izzie’s. R.I.P.
1. DEREK’S DEATH
And of course our top tearjerker moment belongs to the bittersweet death of our beloved Derek Shepherd.
We do not talk about this, okay? There were just no words. Nothing was the same after this episode. We’re pretty sure we all ran out of tissue boxes that night. Shonda is evil. That is all.
After eleven and a half seasons, this is the only appropriate reaction to have, yes?
