We used a guitar pick to apply eyeliner and you WON’T BELIEVE what happened!

It’s the MOST rockstar way to apply makeup

There’s a new way to apply eyeliner and it might just be the most rockstar method ever! Seriously, guys and gals prepare to be impressed.

Rather than splurge on an eyeliner applicator like Beautyblender’s, beauty vloggers have started using guitar picks to achieve the perfect winged liner and tbh the results look flippin’ incredible.

So, why a guitar pick? Well, the shape of the plectrum means it’s the ideal tool to create a perfect flick.

By pressing the side of it against the outer corner of your eye, you can trace on a straight line and create a wing so sharp it could kill a man.

Obvs, this means we can ALL waste less time trying to even out our cat-eyes and generally cut down the minutes we spend in front of the mirror having a mini meltdown.

Obviously, we had to give this trick a go for ourselves.

Whilst, we all love a good YouTube hack, sometimes they look easy on camera but are beyond tricky when you actually try them out IRL.

Can a guitar pick really create the perfect winged liner? Let’s find out.

What you’ll need

  • Guitar pick
  • Eyeliner

If you’re worried about where to get a guitar pick, fret not. Just pop to your local music store, they sell them for less than £1. Woohoo!

Once we had a pick, we first lined the side of it up against the outer corner of our eye. This is where the wing of the liner is going to start. We then traced the side of the pick with eyeliner.

Personally, we were using our fave Tattoo Liner by Kat Von D – but the hack also works if you’re using gel, pencil or liquid liner. Just make sure it’s dry before you move the guitar pick away from your face.

After that, we angled the guitar pick so it was on-top of our eyelid. Again, we drew against it and created a second line.

Pretty easy, right?

After that, we filled in the gap between the first and second line.

We also continued tracing the eyeliner to the inner corner of our eye and generally gave the look a little tidy up.

It’s as simple as that! Using a guitar pick to get even eyeliner really does work!

We’d totally suggest this makeup hack to anyone who is new to applying winged liner. But what do you think?
