Disney are making a massive leap by featuring an “exclusively gay” scene in the new live action ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Really, there has always been characters we are, like, nearly 100% sure are probably maybe gay but Disney has a habit of skirting around the truth. If you ask the search engine the first one that pops up is Gaston from ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
That’s right, the burly, tanked, hairy chested “stud”. But he’s not who we’re buzzing about here.
Of course, it’s LeFou. It had to be. He sings a whole song about his adoration.
In an interview with Attitude, the director had this to say:
“LeFou is somebody who on one day wants to be Gaston and on another day wants to kiss Gaston.”
Josh Gad does something magical with his performance and we finally have a proper look at it with this clip and we are LITERALLY LIVING for it:
Did he just sashay? OMG! It’s beautiful and it’s giving us chills. And did you catch that look from Gaston? Tumblr will no doubt be gagging over this. This ship has set sail, people. YES!
It’s a really interesting exploration of LeFou’s sexuality and we are stoked to watch it unfold on screen:
“And that’s what has its pay-off at the end, which I don’t want to give away. But it is a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie.”
