Breathe a sigh of relief, ’13 Reasons Why’ fans! The question that’s been on our lips ever since we binge watched the show last month has FINALLY been answered.
’13 Reasons Why’ IS coming back for season 2!
As fans of the Netflix essential already know, ’13 Reasons Why’ first popped up on our laptop screens way back in March.
The show is based on a book by Jay Asher and the on-screen adaption documents main character, Hannah Baker’s suicide.
All in all it’s pretty shocking stuff and the show has completely divided viewers.
While some teens have praised it for tackling real issues that many high school students face on a day to day basis – such as depression, teen suicide, rape, self harm and bullying. Others have called it triggering and irresponsible.
Selena Gomez is the show’s executive producer and it was her who confirmed that ’13 Reasons Why’ has been given the green light for a second season.
If that didn’t excite fans enough, then wait till you hear this. She ALSO posted a short trailer for it on her Instagram account.
Eeek! We couldn’t be MORE excited!
So what do we know?
Well, the second season of ’13 Reasons Why’ will consist of 13 hour-long episodes and it’s due to drop in 2018.
According to Netflix, the story will pick up in the aftermath of Hannah’s death and it will mark the other characters’ ‘complicated journeys’ towards healing.
We’re not too sure whether, Katherine Langford who plays Hannah, will be starring in it, just yet. However, something tells us her story is far from over.
Brian Yorkey, who is a showrunner for ’13 Reasons Why’, has previously spoken about Katherine’s involvement in the project. He said:
“Hannah’s story is still very much not finished. She’s an integral part of whatever the next chapter of the story is, and she’s very much still at the centre of it.”
Personally, we’ve out our fingers and toes crossed that Katherine will be returning. But what do you think?
