MP!er Holly shares her thoughts on ‘Insurgent’ by Veronica Roth, ‘a whirlwind of revelations and twists’.

YOU REVIEW: This month we’re delving deep into the YA dystopian fiction ‘Insurgent’ the second book in the ‘Divergent’ trilogy by Veronica Roth. MP!er Holly from @DivergentUK shares her thoughts below.

Describe the plot of ‘Insurgent’ in a tweet – less than 140 characters please!
‘Insurgent’ is a whirlwind of revelations and twists, you’ll go deeper into this world and join Tris and Four uncovering mind-blowing secrets.

Have you read the first book in the Divergent series?
Yes, I love this series!

Have you seen the movie adaptation of the book? If so do you think the characters were portrayed well?
Yes, I convinced some of my friends who wouldn’t read the book to come along and they all loved it so much they bought the book shortly after. I was unsure of the casting to start with but they all did such EXCELLENT job that I truly felt they were the real Tris, Four or Caleb.

Without giving anything away, does the ending make you want to read the next in the series?
Veronica Roth is the mastermind in cliffhangers, so pair that with a thirst for wanting to find out where these character go, Yep. I had it on preorder for months.

What genre would you class the book as?
Dystopian and Young Adult

What was the best bit?
I know this is lame, but the ending, because as you think this really cannot get anymore complex… It just did.

Anything you didn’t like?
Not really..

Would you recommend the Divergent series to your friends?
I have for years and will continue to, I just bought my friend the collectors Edition for her birthday ?

Do you think it would appeal to girls or boys more? Or both?
For the romance aspect probably girls, also the female heroin is a part that I feel girls aspire to. However, there are lots of badass scenes so it could really appeal to both boys and girls.

Anything else you’d like to tell us about the book?
GO BUY IT! Go read it! You won’t regret it!
And you should definitely read it before the movie is out this year!

Handling emotions and adult stuff like Jess Day and Nick Miller do.
I'm a bit awkward but really nice. I have a turtle called Turtle and I believe in the "You should take a nap every day".
