The Ting Tings will headline a gig in East London to launch Oxfam’s month-long charity music festival, Oxjam.
The band, best known for their hits ‘That’s Not My Name’ and ‘Shut Up and Let Me Go’, will hit the stage alongside fresh artists like Bipolar Sunshine and Indiana on 29 September in Shoreditch Town Hall.
The Ting Tings just finished recording their new album Super Critical in Ibiza and will be debuting some new material at the gig.
“It will be our first show in the UK after finishing our third album and for it to be a show with such a good cause makes it really special,” they said.
This one-off show will be the beginning of a movement of hundreds of gigs and events across the UK for the month of October, all raising money to fight poverty.
More than 800 venues, 6,000 volunteers and 5,500 musicians will take part in Oxjam next month to raise funds for Oxfam’s work around the world.
Tickets to the launch gig with The Ting Tings go on sale on 11 September and cost £20, all proceeds go towards Oxfam.
