MP! Style Guide: Are more expensive shampoos worth it?

It’s hard to imagine that the £3 bottle of shampoo you can pick up while grocery shopping is that much different than the £20 bottle your stylist tries to sell you at the salon. But the truth is, those two bottles don’t have a lot in common.

When you spend £20 over £3 for your shampoo, you’re choosing to buy a shampoo with better ingredients. Many cheap shampoos are full of harsher chemicals, fragrances, and even water to fill up the bottle.

“You are paying for the quality ingredients and the technology and research that goes into developing these good ingredients,” Davines Education & Technical Marketing Manager Laura Luciani tells Byrdie. “It’s the more expensive ingredients that target the real issues on the inside [of the hair].”

So it turns out, that pricy bottle of shampoo from the salon is most likely worth it. Your hair will probably thank you with amazing shine and manageability.
