Pop punk group New Politics may be relatively new to the scene but they rocked the stage like seasoned pros at their London show on Wednesday 11th June.
The trio who hail from Copenhagen and New York have been on tour with big names like P!nk, Fall Out Boy, Paramore and Panic! At The Disco, so they legitimately know how to get a crowd going.
Where some live performers need to put away a song or two before they settle into a groove, New Politics were turnt up at 100 from the very first song.
The band launched into electrifying tracks from their latest album ‘A Bad Girl in Harlem’ and 2010 self-titled debut. Highlights include ‘We Are The Radio’, a head-banging number with perforating drums and a chorus that recall The Hives’ smash ‘Tick Tick Boom’.
Other standout tunes include the band’s new single ‘Tonight You’re Perfect’, which sent the female fans into meltdown when dreamy lead singer David started serenading them with lines like: “Tonight you’re perfect, I want to fall in love with the stars in your eyes!”
The New Politics boys come across as genuine, down-to-earth and wildly charismatic in their banter.
Even though they are playing bigger shows and gathering fans across the globe every month, the boys seem genuinely appreciative of the small crowd that showed up to see them grace the tiny stage. (We’re not being divas about the size – just ask Kylie, she did a secret gig in this very room in February!).
David even made a point of walking around the room to meet fans and dropped down to do a breakdance solo – just ’cause he can. How’s that for entertainment value?
Make sure you catch these guys next time they’re in town.
