Chart Update: Uptown Funk stays a third week at number one AND breaks new streaming record

That uptown funk just won’t let up it seems!

Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ solid gold banger has clung on to the top spot for a third non consecutive week, racking up an impressive 156,000 copies sold in the last seven days alone. Not only that but the song has actually managed to break its OWN previous streaming tally of 2.49 million, notching up nearly 2.56 million streams in one week! We suspect about 90% of those streams came from the MP! office alone.

Meanwhile acts like Ed Sheeran, Hozier and Olly Murs have also scored million streaming tracks with ‘Thinking Out Loud’, ‘Take Me To Church’ and ‘Wrapped Up’ respectively. Nice one, boys!

January is slim pickins’ for new music with only two new entries in the form of Nottingham based DJ Philip George with debut single ‘Wish You Were Mine’, and Kanye West ode to daughter North West ‘Only One’ featuring former Beatle Paul McCartney.

Meanwhile guitar toting troubadour George Ezra has rocketed back to the top of the album charts with mega selling debut album ‘Wanted on Voyage’ with Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Paloma Faith completing the top five.
