MP!er Megan shares her thoughts on ‘Insurgent’ by Veronica Roth, if you don’t fall in love with Four you’re silly.

YOU REVIEW: This month we’re delving deep into the YA dystopian fiction ‘Insurgent’ the second book in the ‘Divergent’ trilogy by Veronica Roth. MP!er Megan shares her thoughts below.

INSURGENTUK_B Format_CVR.inddDescribe the plot of ‘Insurgent’ in a tweet – less than 140 characters please!
With the faction system broken and secrets and lies being exposed Tris and Tobias have to choose their side and save their relationship.

Have you read the first book in the ‘Divergent’ series?
I’ve read ‘Divergent’ and the two books after ‘Insurgent’, ‘Allegiant’ and ‘Four’.Have you seen the movie adaptation of the book? If so do you think the characters were portrayed well?
I’ve seen the movie adaption and thought it was such a good and close fit to the book, the music and actors (hello Theo James!) really captured the book and it’s themes perfectly.

Without giving anything away, does the ending make you want to read the next in the series?
The ending is such a cliff hanger so you definitely want to read ‘Allegiant’ as you so want to find out what’s going to happen to Tris and Four’s relationship!

What genre would you class the book as?
Teen Fiction or Action/Romance

What was the best bit?
Definitely when you found out more about Tobias’ past or when you learnt what Caleb was really up to! Plus all the Four/Tris scenes.

Anything you didn’t like?
I can’t really find fault, maybe that it was a bit drawn out, it’s a big book and some parts weren’t really necessary to the plot as a whole.

Would you recommend the Divergent series to your friends?
All my friends know I’m in love with ‘Divergent’, they’ve all attempted to read it to see what I go on about. They even bought me ‘Divergent’ related Christmas presents!

Do you think it would appeal to girls or boys more? Or both?
I think it definitely appeals to both. You’ve got the action for the boys and you’ve got the romance (and Four) for the girls.

Anything else you’d like to tell us about the book?
Definitely read the book before you go and see the film this year or even before you watch the trailer because it’s interesting to see the difference. If you don’t fall in love with Tobias in this book you’re screwed!
