Ed Sheeran is FINALLY releasing ‘x’ next week but he’s dropped yet another track from the album just in case we’d forgotten. This time it’s mid tempo ballad ‘Afire Love’ and it may just be his most heartbreaking single from the album yet.
The song is a moving dedication to Ed’s grandfather who passed away last year, detailing his 20 battle with Alzheimer’s, and the lyrics are some his most tearjerking to date.
“My father told me, son / it’s not his fault he doesn’t know your face / and you’re not the only one,”. It’s safe to say there wasn’t a dry eye in MP! Towers when we heard that line. *sniff*
The gospel style “hallelujah” finale gives the song some hope towards the end but we’d still recommend stocking up on a large supply of Kleenex before listening. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
