Monday’s Alarm Pop: Cher Lloyd – ‘Sirens’. The X Factor star returns with a cracker of a new single!

Things have been quiet in the Cher Lloyd camp of late. Despite the release of the sassy ‘I Wish’ back in September, we haven’t heard much in the way of new music and what with album delays galore, we’ve been fearing that one of our fave X Factor graduates would disappear entirely into the pop wilderness.

We need not fear however, as Cher is back with one of her best singles yet. HRRRNNK. ALARM POP.

‘Sirens’ is a proper, huge sounding mid tempo ballad, with driving guitars in the style of Kelly Clarkson circa ‘Since You Been Gone’. The song doesn’t disappoint with that massive chorus either, where Cher begs her lover to “LAAAAAY DOOOOWN HEEEEERUUH” in the “hallowed water” or some such. It’s all very dramatic indeed.

She’s also channelling some serious Demi Lovato vibes, with those wailing vocals in the chorus serving to remind us that, yes, this girl can most definitely SING. In fact, we haven’t heard her sound this good since her celebrated X Factor performance of ‘Stay’ in 2010.

We never doubted you for a minute, Cher.
