Sam Smith, John Newman, Jess Glynne… there’s been no end of mysterious artists lending their vocals to banging tunes before making it big in their own right, but it’s time for a new voice to step out from behind the “feature artist” curtain and fly solo for a change. We’ve been loving Becky Hill for a while now but her feature on the recent number 1 hit ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’ by house producer Oliver Heldon has officially cemented her status as One To Watch.
Ms. Hill has just dropped a new track and it’s a slinky, low key R&B house number which manages to be achingly cool but still sounds like a pop song at heart. Speaking about the song, Becky says;
“When I was working on the track all I could hear was the phrase ‘Caution to the wind’, which I really liked. I decided to write a song based around idioms. There are around thirteen on Caution like ‘Come hell or high water’ and ‘I’m going to go the extra mile’. They’re how I feel about myself and my music.”
The single will be released on July 22nd with another single to follow soon after and an album due out sometime next year so watch this space…
