YouTube is such a huge community that has been building rapidly for ten years. We always hear about Marcus Butler, Tanya Burr and the like, but what about other cool content creators who we should know about?
We’re interviewing less mainstream YouTubers that we think you definitely need to know about and love just as much as we do! We’ve spoken to Beckii who has over 113k subscribers and had a chat about her experience with YouTube.
What sort of content do you post?
I am mainly a fashion blogger – I make videos about really cute Japanese fashion! I also create videos about topics I care about such as Queerbaiting, and sometimes I do tutorials for hair, makeup, nails, and I’m recently branching out into doing advice videos, and DIYs!
What inspired you to create a YouTube channel?
When I was 12, I decided I wanted to create a channel as I had been watching creators for so long, I wanted to join in!
What YouTubers do you admire?
I really admire Michelle Phan’s aesthetic – she’s built an empire, and her production values are just #goals! On the same strand – IAMKARENO’s channel is also gorgeous.
You’re very big on Japanese culture – what has been the main appeal for you?
I love that it’s an alternate to the Western option of fashion generally being quite mature and sexy. Japanese youthful fashion was really key for me growing up.
Some people may recognise you from a BBC 3 documentary five years ago – how would you say life has changed since then?
It’s changed a lot! My focus is mainly on fashion now. I’ve started my own fashion brand. I’ve grown up a lot, but I think my core is still the same.
How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
Honest, Fashionable, Eager, Kind, Grounded! I hope they’re accurate, hahaha.
If you could collab with anyone in YouTube, who would it be and why?
That’s so hard! I like to collab with people I know.
What is something we absolutely need to know about you?
I try my best to live openly and be kind to everyone I meet.
What can we expect from you in the near future?
What are your goals for your channel?
I want to keep going as we are, making good content and having a lovely and fashionable community enjoying my videos! I want to improve interaction and feature more of your lovely faces on my channel too!
What tips do you have for people considering to start their own YouTube channel?
Be honest, and do it for the enjoyment of making videos that might get absolutely no views.
This or That:
Pizza or Burger?
Partying or sleepover?
Vomit over your celeb crush or accidentally sneeze on your real life crush?
Ahhh!! Definitely sneeze. I don’t think you can come back from throwing up on someone.
Bungee jumping with Taylor Swift or speedboating with Harry Styles?
Bungee jumping with T.S.! She seems like a cool lady and I get sea sick :(
