We’re just gonna throw it out there. We’re wimps here at MP! No seriously, we are. We try and be brave and stand up for what we believe in but some days it’s harder than it seems. Perhaps that’s why we admire the heroes in all our favourite YA books so much. Those girls and guys are truly fearless and will fight to the bitter end.
‘Show Stopper’ is a powerful read that explores how minority groups are discriminated against and Hoshiko is on a mission to change the world. As a ‘dreg’, she’s forced to work in the circus where a demonic ringmaster will beat her and the other performers on a daily basis.
Rather than crumble under the abuse, Hoshiko stands in the face of danger. She goes above and beyond for her fellow circus performers and is on a mission to end the disgusting torture that goes on. Hoshiko really is remarkable and will remind you of all your other fave YA hereos like Katniss and Hermione.
To celebrate how badass she is, we thought we’d put together a new game for you all to play. Can you match the quote to the fearless YA hero? Give it a go below.
Hoshiko makes an appearance, as well as the likes of Tris from ‘Divergent’, Clary from ‘The Mortal Instrument’ and Percy from the ‘Percy Jackson’ series.
