Remember not too long ago when everyone was talking about whether or not they suffered from RBF (resting b***** face)? Well, whether or not you’re cursed with the moody glower when trying to be expressionless, you’ll be able to master the latest craze in your selfies— the ‘not face’ face.
Legit scientists published a study about the facial expressions we make when speaking or reacting negatively. Apparently, these expressions are totally instinctive, and the most common traits are a knit brow, pursed lips, and a stiff jaw. According to more science, the ‘not face’ of disagreement is universally recognized.
So where do we feel like we see the ‘not face’ the most? Flip through your average fashion magazine, and they’ll be jumping out of every page. Next time you want to take your fiercest selfie, furrow your eyebrows, press your lips together, and jut your chin out—you’ll be making the universal face of “nope.”
In the words of Meghan Trainor, “My name is ‘no’.”
