‘Red Queen’ by Victoria Aveyard is part of Maximum Pop!’s book club for the month of July – and we are loving it. Full of twists and turns, deception and crashing revelations, this is not a book you will be reading slowly. In fact, you may feel the need to power through it in a night – next day grogginess be damned.

MP!er and book blogger Coleen applied to get her freebie copy of the book so we can see all her thoughts, let’s take a gander shall we?

ColeenName: Coleen

Age: 17

What did you think of the cover? I thought it was gorgeous. I loved how the Crown was raised, it was a nice touch. Plus, the cover goes well with the story.

After finishing, ‘Red Queen’, are you excited for the sequel, ‘Glass Sword’? Yes I am. Once I closed the book, I immediately wished that I waited till the last book was almost published, just so I could marathon the series.

Who was your favourite character? Julian was my favourite character. I thought he had an interesting background, and I’m hoping to hear more about him in the next book.

Red QueenBased on your first reactions, were you Team Maven or Team Cal? I passionately shipped Mare and Maven.

If you could choose to have any of the Silvers powers, what would you pick? Whisper. I feel like it’s the most powerful power. And because I can communicate telepathically.

Can you describe ‘Red Queen’ in three words? WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED?!

Final rating out of 10? 8
