”Binge’ proved Tyler can entertain audiences via any platform.’ Katie-Louise shares her thoughts on the YouTuber read.

YouTube phenomenon, Tyler Oakley has just released his debut book, ‘Binge’ which talks about never before spoken about stories that you wouldn’t find on his YouTube channel.

We gave MP!er Katie-Louise a copy of the book as part of our You Review. Here’s what she thought about Tyler’s honest approach.

Name: Katie-Louise Brown

Katie LouiseAge: 23

How would you describe Tyler’s ‘Binge’ in a sentence? Full of laughs from the very first page, ‘Binge’ reminds us to make the most out of every second, to always be ourselves, and to never, under any circumstances, deny Tyler Oakley his beets.

Tyler relives various personal topics that have happened to him, could you relate to any? Tyler discussed growing up poor, which is something I understood all too well. My family never had a lot of money whilst I was young and it was difficult getting by in a world where the purchases you make can be deemed more important than the personality you have. But like Tyler, it taught me how to make every penny count. I adored hearing how he sought to make money from a young age, even if it was just from selling sugary lemonade.

Do you watch Tyler’s YouTube videos? Was the book anything like you expected after you’d seen how he is online? I have been subscribed to Tyler since that Darren Criss video in 2012 and the book was everything I expected it to be and more. ‘Binge’ proved that Tyler can entertain audiences via any platform, whether it be on the screen or on the page.

Have you ever come up with a lie to get a photo with someone you fancy? Not a photo with someone, but certainly a photo of someone. There was a guy I really liked, and I may have told a little white lie to him about REALLY needing a model to be in some pictures for a class project, and NONE of my friends would help me out, so he kindly agreed. I did have to take pictures for a class project, but not once did my tutor tell me that I had to have a person in the shot.

Some of the stories had us laughing for ages, which part did you find the funniest?
There are so many funny moments! I really adored Tyler’s ranking of Disney Princes, but the funniest moment was when I found myself crying with laughter at 1:30am over ‘fecal matters’. Who knew a chapter on poop could be so entertaining?

What do you think of the cover? Does it translate well to the stories in ‘Binge’? The cover reflects Tyler perfectly, colourful, unique, and full of life. Everything about it just screams ‘READ ME’. It also gives a glimpse into what the book is all about, bingeing on the things we enjoy in order to find our own boundaries.

Have you read any other YouTuber books? What do you think of them? This is actually the first book by a YouTuber that I’ve had the chance to read, and it has definitely made me want to read more. Everyone has a unique story to tell, and it’s great that so many YouTubers are getting to share theirs.

Rate out of 10. This book ticked every box for me and I flew through it in a couple of days, so I to have to give it 10/10. It made me laugh, it broke my heart at times, and it made me want to make the most out of every moment life throws at me, good or bad.

Anything else you’d like to tell us about ‘Binge’? Even for those who have not seen Tyler’s videos before, this is a highly entertaining read and provides a fantastic insight into the world of a YouTuber.

Zayn Malik should definitely be topless for every interview he does from now on.

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello did what last summer? Interesting, very interesting.
