YOU REVIEW: MP!er Nina shares her thoughts on “plot twisting fantasy” “True Fire”, the first in a brand new trilogy by Gary Meehan.

Describe the plot of ‘Unhinged’ in a tweet – less than 140 characters please!
A gripping story of a 16 year old girl as she embarks on a quest to save her twin and discover the truth after having her world torn apart.
What genre would you class the book as?
Action/Fantasy
What did you think of ‘True Fire’?
‘True Fire’ is very action-packed which made the story exciting to read from start to finish! One of my favourite things about the book was how vividly the characters were portrayed – you really got a sense of their disposition and all the little quirks in their personalities. What was also remarkable was how brilliantly Meehan combined the powerful emotions of the novel, such as fear and sorrow, whilst still managing to include snippets of humour throughout.

What was the best bit?
I liked all the dramatic plot twists – especially when Damon’s secret was revealed.
Anything you didn’t like about the book?
There were quite a lot of character/place names mentioned throughout the book, which got slightly confusing at times as it was hard to remember who was who etc. It was also quite lengthy (just under 400 pages) for anyone who prefers a shorter read.
Would you recommend ‘True Fire’ to your friends?
Yes, if they were into the action/fantasy genre!

Anything else you’d like to tell us about the book?
The book has been compared to ‘Throne of Glass’ so if you enjoyed that, you’ll love reading ‘True Fire’! I’d recommend it to anyone who fancies delving into a world of lies, war and revenge and getting hooked into one girls riveting journey to unveil the truth.
