MP! Reviews: Transformers: Age of Extinction

We sent down our head honcho movie reviewer Bianca to the new Transformers movie, lets see what she thought of it.

Let’s talk about the new Transformers movie that’s coming out this month, with a new cast including Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor. The director Michael Bay brings to the cinemas ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’.

This is the 4th instalment in the Transformers story, like the others you can expect a lot of explosions and amazing cars morphing into giant robots to fight against each other, but I’m afraid that’s one of the only good qualities this movie has; action.

The story follows Cade Yeager (Wahlberg), a broke inventor and his daughter Tessa (Peltz). He buys an old truck that ends up being the autobots leader, Optimus Prime. At the same time something else is going on; another alien’s species is hunting transformers, getting them one by one, with their own new army of robots created with ‘transformium’, the mineral that transformers are made of. The mineral was extracted from the hunted robots and the objective is to exterminate humans so the transformers can still live on Earth.

This movie looks very exciting. With loads of action and a completely new cast, you’d expect a change in the storyline compared to the previous films. Unfortunately this is not the case and I found the storyline very repetitive. As someone who has watched all of the movies this one didn’t stand out from the others. They are all much of a muchness with aliens or humans hunting and fighting the transformers only to find that they want to live in peace.

It has amazing special effects, so if you are an action movie lover, I’m sure you will enjoy this one but I still thinking that a story is missing here. It is not a bad movie but not the best of the transformers series either. I personally enjoyed it, but I prefer a good story rather than just action and fancy effects.

I'm a bit awkward but really nice. I have a turtle called Turtle and I believe in the "You should take a nap every day".
