The X Factor is back and it’s all change. Here are 5 things we know.

With The X Factor returning this weekend, we thought we’d round up all the changes that we know are going on and fill you in on all the goss before you’re sat in front of your TV on Saturday night like…

Here we go…

1There’s some brand new judges

As you’ll probably know, Louis Walsh has been sent packing from his X Factor duties this year and Mel B has… kind of just fallen off the face of the earth actually. Their replacements are Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw and pop beauty Rita Ora, as previously reported. Head judge Simon Cowell and new executive producer (ooh!) Cheryl Fernandez-Versini are back to reprise their roles.

2We’ve got new hosts too

We’re going to miss Dermot’s dancing and his MFA but instead we’ve got Xtra Factor favourites Olly Murs and Caroline Flack so all is still good. The Xtra Factor has some new faces too in the form of Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes and KISS FM‘s Melvin Odoom.

3There’s been some changes to auditions and bootcamp

Room auditions have been scrapped! This year’s hopefuls will be thrown in at the deep end by performing in an arena full of fans. And in an X Factor first, dancers and props are allowed in auditions. That’ll be… interesting. Bootcamp this year will be help in a country house – how fancy!

Number 4Judges’ Houses is going to be broadcast LIVE

We’re not too sure how Olly and Caroline are going to manage flying to four different countries during an ad break but Judges’ Houses will be broadcast completely live this year. Is it weird that we’re already excited to see Queen Cheryl crying diamonds again?

5The public pick which judge mentors which category

Sick of seeing Cheryl with the girls? Want to see if Rita starts a budding romance with one of the boys? You dictate which judge gets which category this year through the power of Twitter. All you have to do is tweet one of the following hashtags to let The X Factor know who you want to see the judges mentoring this year.

#SimonBoys #SimonGirls #SimonGroups #SimonOvers

#CherylBoys #CherylGirls #CherylGroups #CherylOvers

#RitaBoys #RitaGirls #RitaGroups #RitaOvers

#NickBoys #NickGirls #NickGroups #NickOvers

And look, the judges have been turned into emojis to help you cast your vote, how cute!

The X Factor returns to ITV on Saturday and Sunday at 8pm. Are you excited for the new series? Let us know over on @maximumpop on Twitter.
