CONFIRMED: The Wanted’s first ever UK arena tour will be called “The Code” – read on for more facts that you need to know…
Our love for The Wanted never died, but we’ll have to admit – ever since the boys stormed The Ellen Show over in the US, we’ve felt a proper sense of excitement about the band become reignited for the first time since the very early days of TW fever hitting the UK. And lucky for us (and you of course) Siva, Jay and the rest of the gang are getting ready to head out on their arena tour next month and WE CAN’T WAIT.
In fact we’ve been so unable to contain this excitement that we’ve spent all morning putting together this handy guide to everything that we already know about the tour. So keep reading if you want to know more about the mystery mash-up, the support acts and the answer to the question on everybody’s lips – will they be dancing?
ANY SURPRISES PLANNED?
Last time the band were on the road, fans were treated to an excellent medley of Taio Cruz’s hits – proving to MP! that the boys should collaborate with him again ASAP. They’re not giving away the identity of which artist they’re covering this time round, but Jay has revealed that it’s definitely NOT Michael Jackson.
ARE THEY GETTING THE INSTRUMENTS OUT?
On the theatre tour we got to see the band flex their instrument playing muscles and it looks like things will be exactly the same in the arenas. “All I can say is that we’ll be a nine-piece band” says Nathan. Place your bets on what each guy will play now. We’re hoping Siva rocks out on a saxophone.
WHAT’S THE INSPIRATION?
If you want to make sure your tour is the best, then you may as well look to the best for inspiration. Take That’s Progress tour smashed records and included all sorts of spectacles and stunts – and apparently The Wanted have been inspired by certain elements of the “staging”. Does this mean we’ll see a giant Nathan Sykes robot? Probably not. But we can dream.
ARE THEY GONNA DANCE?
Ah, the age-old question. Almost as famous as “Which came first – the chicken or the egg?” Are the boys planning to dance on the arena tour? In news that will surprise nobody, they’ve already admitted that they won’t. “Because we don’t dance,” says Jay, “I want it to be as dramatic as possible.” Sacrificing awkward dad dancing (let’s face it, that’s probably what it would end up looking like) for drama? Sounds good to us!
WHO’S SUPPORTING THEM?
The rumours have been flying. Fingers have been pointed. One name has been officially dropped. Do we know who else is going to be warming up the crowd before the main show? Definitely not. Well… Maybe. Or maybe not. We can’t say. But what we CAN say is that whoever it turns out to be will no doubt put on an amazing show and do the boys proud. One more clue – it’s definitely not SoundGirl.
Stay tuned to Maximum Pop! because as soon as we hear anymore about “The Code”, you’ll be the first to find out!
