Laverne Cox is KILLING it in this TV revamp. Here are 4 more theatre adaptations we’d like to see

If you haven’t already heard, US TV channel Fox is revamping the 1975 cult classic ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ and the first trailer seriously slays.

With ‘Orange is the New Black‘ star Laverne Cox giving a taste for what the show is all about as character Dr. Frank-N-Furter, the revamp looks to be the perfect TV companion just in time for Halloween this October.

With the release of the ‘Rocky Horror’ trailer, it should be no surprise that it’s got us tapping our chins and pondering: what other absolute stage sensations should be adapted for TV? Because, let it be known that, here at MP!, we do love a good bit of musical theatre.

1. ‘Avenue Q’

We’ve already got the Muppets and, as a puppet oriented show, we reckon ‘Avenue Q’ would do pretty well in a TV set up. Just make sure no parents get mixed up and thing it’s child appropriate, alright?

2. ‘Wicked’

Who isn’t absolutely obsessed with ‘Wicked’, tbh? It’s one of the best musicals around. We most certainly love it! Plus, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ has had several film versions made, so why not the backstory of the Wicked Witch of the West? We think she’s the definition of #GirlBoss and deserves serious recognition.

3. ‘Les Miserablés’

We know it got its own feature-length film — which was bloody fantastic, FYI! But we reckon it could also be the perfect BBC period drama.

4. ‘Book of Mormon’

The ‘Book of Mormon’ is pretty hilarious. Well, we think so anyway. We can only actually afford to listen to the soundtrack cause the tickets are so expensive and in-demand, so we’re not completely positive. But considering it’s created by the same people that bring us ‘South Park’, we don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to have it considered for its own TV series.

They all sound like they could be pretty epic, right?

Back to ‘Rocky Horror’ though… Honestly, we’re pretty pumped for anything Laverne Cox sprinkles some of her absolute boss ass bitch magic on. Not to mention Victoria Justice (Janet), Ryan McCartan (Brad) and Reeve Carney (Riff Raff) don’t look too bad themselves. We’re about ready to get down and dirty to the ‘Time Warp’. What about you?
