We wandered down to Hyde Park this weekend to see the almighty Taylor Swift and three days later, we are still absolutely amazed and slayed and unable to comprehend how we were worth to share the same air as Queen Taylor.
Instead of just sitting here bragging all day, we thought we’d inform you of the five most amazing things that went down in that beautimous park. It was pretty hard to pick just five, but, we’ve tried our best.
We know this point isn’t really about Taylor but we have to give props to her for picking four of the best opening acts we’ve ever seen. And we’ve seen a lot of opening acts. Rae Morris, Vance Joy, John Newman and Ellie Goulding performed on the Great Oak Stage ahead of Taylor and
the very reasonably priced cider they definitely got us in the mood.
You know us, we love a good outfit change, and Taylor had plenty of them. Our favourite had to be either the sparkly green jacket she opened the show with or the shiny silver dress she closed with. There’s just too many, we can’t pick.
The setlist for Taylor’s Hyde Park gig – and the rest of the 1989 World Tour – mainly consists of the pop perfection tracks found on Tay Tay’s latest album ‘1989’. As well as that, singles ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’, ‘Love Story’, and ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ made the cut. We were also treated to ‘Speak Now’ album track ‘Enchanted’ which left us sobbing in a field. Brilliant.
As we mentioned literally a second ago, classic Taylor singles ‘Love Story’ and ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ were performed as part of the set but what we didn’t mention was the new mixes the tracks received. Taylor explained that the new version of ‘Love Story’ sounded how she would imagine it to if it was first heard on ‘1989’ and ‘Back Together’ received a brand new rock mix. Here’s Taylor performing the new mix of ‘Love Story’ at iHeartRadio Festival last year.
You know as much as we do that Taylor Swift loves a special guest and at her Hyde Park gig Taylor treated us to not one, not two, but SIX special guests in the form of models Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevigne, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Martha Hunt. Tennis legend Serena Williams also made an appearance (random?) during the star’s performance of ‘Style’.
It was just absolutely incredible and we’re still not quite over it. We’re not sure if we ever will be.
