After breaking records in Los Angeles and on VEVO, Taylor Swift has now smashed an actual world record and got herself a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. And that’s not an easy thing to achieve, we’ve been trying to get in for “longest time spent silent” for years but we can’t stop chatting about how amazing Tay is.
Taylor enters the 2016 edition of the long-running record book for achieving the most million-selling weeks on US album charts, meaning that Taylor is the only artist in the world to sell one million copies of an album in a week three times.
Swifty scored her first million-selling week in 2010 when her album ‘Speak Now’ sold 1.047 million copies in it’s first week, ‘Red’ followed by selling 1.208 million copies in one week in 2012 and, more recently ‘1989’ debuted with 1.287 million sales in 2014.
This is Taylor’s third Guinness World Record after landing in the book in 2011 for most simultaneous US Hot 100 hits by a female and 2013 for fastest-selling digital single thanks to ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’.
Well done Taylor, we’re hella proud of you!
