We’re absolutely devastated to hear about the break up of Taylor and Calvin. We refused to believe any of it but when Mr Harris himself announced it on Twitter with Taylor retweeting, it was the beginning of the end of life as we know it.
If that wasn’t devastating enough – Demi Lovato announced the break-up with her boyfriend of six years, Wilma Valderrama, on Instagram, and it’s also rumoured that Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have called it quits. WHAT IS GOING ON?!
We know that not only Taylor and Demi are going through a break-up and heartache, but thousands of others are, too – maybe even you or a friend. Here are some of our tips to help you get through it.
1. Know it’s OK to be upset
No good comes with bottling up your emotions so go on, babe, let it all out. It’s good for you.
2. Remove your former flame from all social media
It’s gonna hurt. Even if you ended on good terms, maybe let them know what your plan is because you need to get away from that source of pain, at least temporarily.
3. Keep your distance
Even if they offer to still be friends, tell them you’ll think about it but for now you just need some time away. It’s difficult to move on when the source of the pain is still in your life.
4. Sad love songs? Don’t listen to them
We know it’s tempting to put on some sad songs while sobbing your heart out, but don’t do it. Make a bomb AF playlist with all those positive and upbeat songs. May we suggest ‘Hair’ by Little Mix, ‘Sucks to be You’ by Emma Blackery and Ariana Grande’s ‘Break Free’?
5. Don’t start any drama
We know sometimes it’s easy to talk about them since you’re hurt because of them but the last thing you need is to start any drama. Just keep tight lipped and be polite. Prove you’re the better person.
6. Vow to give yourself the attention you need
Go see a movie. Go get pampered. Eat a box of chocolates. Hold a sleepover. Just do something good for yourself because you are allowed some self-love!
7. Don’t rush into another relationship
Take some time. You’re young. Mr or Mrs Right is out there. Stop and smell the flowers, enjoy being the strong, independent-ass mofo you know you can be. Listen to our gal, Beyoncé.
