She’s been shaking it off all over town, selling squillions of copies of the incredible ‘1989’ and generally dominating 2014 in a big way, but now it’s official: Tay Swizzle is Billboard’s Woman of the Year, and we think it’s well deserved.
In a brand new interview with the music industry magazine, Tay Tay reveals what a struggle it was for her own team to accept her recent radical change of musical direction from country to full on pop, saying:
“Everyone, in and out of the music business, kept telling me that my opinion and my viewpoint was naive and overly optimistic – even my own label. But when we got those first-day numbers in, all of a sudden, I didn’t look so naive .”
You GO girl. T Swiz also went on to talk about her new besties like Lorde and Lena Dunham, saying:
With Ella – Lorde – her album came out and I thought it was amazing, so I sent her flowers and congratulated her on a great first week. And I get this text message from one of our mutual friends, Tavi Gevinson, and she says, “Lorde is freaking out because she said some stuff about you in an interview and she feels so terrible.” She essentially had said that I’m too perfect or something like that – something that did not even mildly offend me, that I thought was cute. She felt so bad about it, so I said, “It’s no big deal. We should hang out sometime.”
Man, we wish we could get Taylor to want to hang out with US. Check out the full interview here and watch the excerpts below. CALL US, TAY.
