If you’re anything like us, you love your seasonal films. And we don’t just mean ‘Arthur Christmas’ in December or ‘Hocus Pocus’ at Halloween. Oh, hell no! We’re also mad keen on those films that absolutely exude the feeling of sun on our skin and salty sea air in our lungs. And we reckon ‘Swallows and Amazons’ may just be that film for summer 2016.
‘Swallows and Amazons’ is based off of Arthur Ransome’s novel about four children seeking out adventure on their holiday to the Lake District. They camp out on a desolate island in the middle of the lake, but discover they may not be the only ones inhabiting it. Set in the backdrop of wartime, the children’s battle for ownership may be the least of their worries when Russian spies appear, on the search of a Mr Jim Turner.
The film is filled to the brim with the gorgeous wonder and imagination of childhood, with breathtaking scenery to match.
We reckon it’s going to be a good’n. Will you be going to the cinema to see it? Tweet us @maximumpop.
‘Swallows and Amazons’ will be released in UK cinemas on August 19th 2016.
