Steven Camden is one of the UK’s most well known spoken word poets who branched out to YA lit in 2014 with his debut novel, ‘Tape’. Now onto his 2nd novel, ‘It’s About Love’, Steven Camden proves he’s just as talented in print as he is on stage.
MP!er Nazy got her free copy by applying on the Maximum Pop! website and here’s what she thought.
“It’s About Love” is a very open title. If you wanted to be more specific, you would call it “It’s About…”? ‘It’s About….films?’ I think the original title is perfect for the story but there are a lot of film-related aspects that add a unique twist.
What did you think of the cover? I love the cover! It’s what drew me to the story in the first place.
Have you read anything by Steve Camden before? If not, after this, would you consider reading his other books? I haven’t read anything else by Steven Camden but after reading this, ‘TAPE’ might be joining ‘It’s About Love’ on my shelf soon…
How did you find the interspersed screen directions? I loved those! They were so cool and made the story unique and fun! It also helped us understand how the main character, Luke, sees the world.
