Six Questions we ask everybody with… SayReal

Today you’ll be getting to know reggae/pop band SayRealThe LA-based group is fronted by The Voice’s Naia Kete. We asked them the six questions we ask everybody to help you get to know them a bit better.

Tell us why we should listen to you in 140 characters or less…

Lee: Listening to us is like diving into the ocean and flying on a spaceship and meditating (all without leaving your favorite chair)… a brand new experience that everyone should have!

If you had to compare the sound of your music to a Crisp flavour, which would you pick and how do they relate?

Imani: Original flavor, because we stay true to ourselves

Naia: Salt & Vinegar, ‘nuff said.

Lightfoot: Lime…because, Lime.  It’s juicy and refreshing.

Lee: BBQ Jalapeno because we are sweet and spicy all at the same time.

What was the first single you ever bought and has it inspired the music that you release today?

Imani: The first single I ever bought was ‘Hills and Valleys’ by Buju Banton. It very deeply inspires the type of music I make today. Music with a positive message, catchy melody, and steady groove.

Naia: I bought the entire India Arie ‘Acoustic Soul’ – I learned how to sing harmonies by singing along with India while listening to the album…so that really influenced how I hear vocal parts and melodies.

Lee: Nirvana – ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’.  And hell yeah it inspires the music we release!

Lightfoot: Actually the first CD I bought was ‘Tubthumper’ by Chumbawamba and it has not influenced the music at all…

Picture the scene… You have found a time machine and been sent back to the year 1996. You have been selected to become a member of a band known as the Spice Girls. What would your nickname be?

Imani: Ras Spice

Lee: Ethereal Spice

Lightfoot: Curley Spice

Naia: Nappy Spice

If you were given a pet cat and told you had to name it after an existing popstar, what would you name it?

Lee: Bieber, because he’s so damn cuddly.

Imani: Kitty Purry II

Naia: Nicki Meow

Lightfoot: Do I have to answer this…?

Can you tell us that you love us?

And, because they love you too, SayReal have given us some signed postcards to give away to you lovely lot. Deets below.
