It’s hard when it turns out your fave is a fictional character, and when they’re as awesome as Lily Ross is in Vivi Greene’s ‘Sing’, it makes it even worse. But don’t sweat it, MP!ers, we’ve put together a list of 7 real-life, incredibly talented female artists who we just know will rock your socks off.
1. Fifth Harmony
We know you know who these fab ladies are. ‘7/27’, their latest album, is full of incredible hits that will have you non-stop singing along. ‘Work from Home’, ‘That’s My Girl’ and ‘All In My Head (Flex)’ are just a few of our faves. Want to see them do their thaang IRL? You’re in luck, they just announced a UK tour for Autumn 2016 – don’t miss it!
2. Astrid S
We got to see Astrid S recently when she supported Troye Sivan on his Blue Neighbourhood Tour, and we’ve never been so heart eyes for a support act before! She’s only 19 and she’s already wowing us beyond her years with her unique voice.
3. Marina and the Diamonds
We’ve loved Marina and the Diamonds ever since her 2010 hit ‘Hollywood’ and, like good cheese, she’s certainly getting better with age. Maybe she dropped off your radar, but we here at MP! love her interesting electropop sound so much.
Halsey is taking over all of our radio waves and we definitely do not have a problem with it. ‘Badlands’, her first studio album, is crazy amazing from start to finish, ranging from hits like ‘New Americana’ to ‘Colors’, each as beautiful as the last. Need more proof of how awesome she is? Halsey even has Justin Bieber waving her banners of support after they got together last year to record ‘The Feeling’.
5. Taylor Swift
We know you can’t get Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ off repeat already, but what kind of MP! article would this be without talking about how much we adore this woman?! If – GASP! – you haven’t listened to Taylor’s latest album yet you are missing out BIG TIME. It’s full of catchy pop tunes that you’ll be humming for years to come.
You might know them from being besties with Taylor, but HAIM are a powerhouse of great music all by themselves. The three sisters have made appearances at the American leg of the 1989 World Tour, on comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live, and even at Glasto! Their music is perfect for your summer jams playlists.
7. Selena Gomez
She might have been on our screens and all over the radio for years now, but Selena is making one hell of a comeback with ‘Revival’. We can’t get enough of this pop princess and all she’s doing! From classics like ‘A Year Without Rain’ from the Selena Gomez & The Scene days, to her ridiculously catchy more recent ‘Same Old Love’, everything she touches turns to gold.
