Simon Cowell spills the beans about new One Direction song ’18’. HOLD US.

We’ve only just gotten the excitement of 1D’s brand new single ‘Steal My Girl’ and now X Factor overlord Simon Cowell has just spilled the deets on another new song called ’18’. Not only that, but it’s been written by the lovely Ed Sheeran himself. HOLD US.

Speaking in a new interview, Simon explained how the song came about;

“The funny story was that Ed came down to see me at Got Talent, as he was performing, and he came up to the dressing room and I went, ‘Where’s the One Direction song?’. And he said ‘I didn’t know you wanted a song from me’ and I went ‘yeah’.”

“And then literally a week later he comes round to my house with his manager one night, turned up around 11 o’clock and said ‘Do you like this song?’ and he played me ‘18’ and it took me about a millionth of a second to say yes.”

To be honest, we’d react exactly the same way. Simon also went on to address speculation about any of the boys going solo in the future, saying;

“Look, I think eventually, whether they do it within One Direction or afterwards, if they want to do this for another five or ten years, they can do it. They’ve gone past this three, four year mark and they’ve got better. When I saw them in California, they looked like a band that had been around for ten years. I mean, really, really got it together, so the future is in their hands not my hands.”

Hmmm not exactly reassuring, but not bad news either! So what about you guys? Are you excited to have Ed at the helm of another 1D track? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
