MPer Jennifer shares her thoughts on ‘addictively page turning’ horror ‘Sick’ by Tom Leveen.

YOU REVIEW: MP!er Jennifer shares her thoughts on ‘Sick’ by Tom Leveen. His first step into the realms of horror YA fiction.

Describe the plot of ‘Sick’ in a tweet – Less than 140 characters please!

A story of high school friends and the battle they have to stay alive while all around them there are infected students killing any living person they see. [MP! note: Slightly more than a tweet but we’ll let you off.]

What genre would you class the book as?

What was the best bit?

For me there wasn’t a best bit I found it additively page turning from start to finish. It really surprised me as I wouldn’t usually go for a book in the horror genre. I really engaged with the storyline between Brian and Kenzie as it was very true to life, almost all of us have known someone affected by cancer and it helped me connect to the characters on a personal level.

Anything you didn’t like?

I don’t think I disliked any part of the book, only the cover as it lacked imagination. The content was well written and kept me engaged though out.

Would you recommend ‘Sick’ to your friends?

I would recommend this book to anyone, it’s easy to read and very well written.

Do you think it would appeal to girls or boys more? Or both?

I think it would appeal to both sexes, there’s different layers to the book and underlying stories.

Anything else you’d like to tell us about ‘Sick’?

The characters in the book were all very believable, Brian and his friends all came to life on the page. This book would make an incredible film!
