Loads of our faves have launched music careers after building a following online but we’ve never had one break out through Vine before.
Meet 15-year old singer/songwriter Shawn Mendes, who just dropped his debut single ‘Life of The Party’ and swiftly made Billboard chart history as the youngest person to have their first single debut in the Top 25. Casual.

The Canadian teen started posting covers on Vine less than a year ago and was swiftly snapped up by a record label once he got a bit of buzz happening.

Shawn continued to build his profile through social media and has to date racked up over 2.8 million followers on Vine and 1.3 million on Twitter. (And 1.4 million Instagram stalkers. Make that 1.4 million and 1.)
When he did his first public appearance in Toronto last year, 2,000 people showed up and his first headline show in Canada sold out within 24 hours – all pretty good signs that you’re well on your way to proper stardom.
Then Shawn dropped his debut single ‘Life of The Party’ and it went straight to #1 on US iTunes on the first day, selling 100,000 copies in 24 hours.
