Describe the plot of ‘Second Chance Summer’ in a tweet – less than 140 characters please.
After Taylor’s Dad gets devastating news her family spend one last summer in their lake house, finally taking time to get to know each other

What genre would you class the book as?
YA contemporary. It’s the perfect read for the upcoming summer. If you’re going into this thinking it’s just fluffy and romantic, elements of family and friendship make it much, much deeper and thought-provoking.

Second Chance SummerWhat was the best bit?
For me the fact that this book wasn’t just about “getting the boy”, as so many contemporaries are, was the best bit. It was nice to see that the main character wasn’t boy-obsessed and family actually played a huge part in her life, when in many books they are neglected.

Anything you didn’t like?
It’s rather long for a contemporary, as is ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’, perhaps unnecessarily dragged out at times. But nevertheless, I loved this.

Have you read anything by Morgan Matson before? If not, does this make you want to read her other titles?
I read both ‘Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour’ and ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ last summer – both of which I gave 4/5 stars. The only thing that was stopping me buying ‘Second Chance Summer’ was the hideous original UK cover (don’t judge a book by the cover, people). I couldn’t resist requesting a copy of this for review though in it’s new, strikingly pretty cover. If you love this book, then you MUST read Morgan Matson’s other books!

Would you recommend the ‘Second Chance Summer’ to your friends?
My friends LOVE Morgan Matson’s other books, however not many of them have read ‘Second Chance Summer’. I will promptly be gently forcing them to read this, so we can talk about how amazing it is.

Would you pick up ‘Second Chance Summer’ if you saw it in the shop?
Yes, Morgan Matson has quickly become an auto-buy-author in my eyes, so I wouldn’t be able to not buy this.

Do you think it would appeal to girls or boys more? Or both?
Really it depends on which books you normally read. Personally, I feel that this would appeal to girls a lot more than boys, but there is a family aspect of ‘Second Chance Summer’ that both many boys and girls will easily relate to and empathise with.
