Halsey gave a super empowering speech at this UK festival and you’ve GOTTA see it

Find out what happened at Reading Festival 2017

Don’t mind us, we’re just cleaning off the mud from our wellies… Or not. The Maximum Pop! team recently got back from Reading Festival and we spent the whole weekend basking in the glorious British sunshine. Nope that’s not sarcasm you’re sensing. The weather was great and we even got a tan. How fancy.

Obvs, we’ve got heaps to tell you about this year’s festival. Anne-Marie completely slayed on the Friday, LANY drove the crowd wild on Saturday and Halsey was the epitome of girl power and gave a super inspiring speech during her Sunday night performance.

So without further ado, here’s everything you missed.

Oh Wonder aced the NME tent…

Is there a better band than Oh Wonder? Our fave pop duo absolutely aced the NME tent on the Friday night and everyone was ‘High On Humans’. Pun intended. Here’s some fancy BBC footage of their set…

Straight after Oh Wonder it was time for a spot of Anne-Marie…

You guys know how much we love Anne-Marie, here at Maximum Pop! Her performance of ‘Ciao Adios’ was the perfect way to enjoy a sunny Friday. Don’t believe us? Check it out for yourself…

On Saturday we kicked the day off with Sigrid…

All hail Queen Sigrid – we’ve had ‘Plot Twist’ suck in our heads for about a week now. Also there’s a 4/10 chance that your Mum was stood in this crowd. Sigrid attracts all kinds of fans, which is pretty bloomin’ cool.

We also had a little dance to LANY…

Just check out that crowd. The Radio 1 Dance Tent was packed out for LANY’s set. We just managed to squeeze in. Strewth! You can see why they’re so popular, though. If you haven’t checked out ‘Good Girls’ already you need to ASAP.

We’re still recovering from Major Lazer’s set…

Word of warning: The reason Major Lazer are called Major Lazer is probably because of all the lazers. Great band. Awful Instagram shot. They bossed it from start to finish and everyone was on their feet enjoying the last few days of the summer hols.

Here’s what you guys had to say about the band…

Sunday kicked off with a trip into this thing…

That’s right, guys. It’s a giant cube. No, despite your excellent guesses, Taylor Swift was NOT hiding inside. The cube is actually a techy gadget from Samsung that was full of lights, magic and totally Instagrammable snaps.

See? It was pretty cool…

Next up was one of our favourite singers of the WHOLE WEEKEND…

If you thought LANY was packed, you should have seen Charli XCX’s set. She really deserved a bigger stage – there were THAT many people crammed into the tiny tent. From ‘Boys’ to ‘Boom Clap’, it was belter after belter and she drove the crowd wild.

No seriously, she did. This is what happens 5 minutes into Charli and chill…

After Charli we headed straight over to see the Queen herself…

Nope, we’re not talking about Liz. We’re obvs talking about Halsey. She is the Queen of a Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, after all. Halsey slayed, unsurprisingly, and ‘Bad At Love’ sounded out-of-this-world live.

She also gave a super empowering speech…

During her final song, ‘Hurricane’. She told young women they’re unstoppable and how males need to stand up to sexism. *BOWS DOWN*
