If you are a regular MP! reader (which we’re sure you are!) then you’d know that we love a good cover. If there’s a boyband tackling a Miley Cyrus tune or an acoustic rendition of one of 1D’s greatest hits, we are on it like a car bonnet!
BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge has supplied us with many amazing covers and their latest album has 53 beautiful live performances. We went through the album and after hours of deliberation, here are our 5 faves:
Robin slows down the party anthem to a more smooth and sexy pace. When this track popped up, we half expected a rotating bed with leopard print bed sheets to fold out of the wall. Robin’s amazing vocals and the vibe of the song is just perfect and… we love it!
We love a good acoustic girl band set up and the X Factor winners’ Mumford and Sons cover was everything we could have hoped for. The girls’ beautiful harmonies and powerful vocals make it even clearer that these ladies deserved to take the X Factor crown in 2011.
Olly Murs’ rendition of Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ is another highlight of the album. It’s a great cover and suits Mr. Murs perfectly.
The ‘Panic Cord’ songstress’ One Direction cover was a previous Cover Corner and, thankfully, it made it onto ‘Radio 1’s Live Lounge 2013’ too. A great One Direction cover with a beautiful twist on the song. It’s a definite “must listen”!
Completing our five faves, is another X Factor alum… Misha B! Misha gave a moving performance of Labrinth and Emeli Sande’s ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’. It was almost as though the track was written for her. You go girl!
