Some people just ooze glamour. They don’t need a show-stopping dress or killer hairdo to turn heads, it’s just in their genes. Take the girls in Little Mix for instance or the queen of pop herself, Miss Camila Cabello. What a star.
We’re recently been reading about an equally glamorous powerhouse in a brand new YA book. The book’s called ‘Alex, Approximately’ and is written by Jenn Bennett.
‘Alex, Approximately’ follows Bailey ‘Mink’ Rydell. Mink’s obsessed with old Hollywood movies, she has a sizzling dress-sense and her hair is just like Lara Turner’s. Just think of her as Lana Del Rey 2.0 she’s THAT glam.
At the start of the novel, Mink has “met” the boy of her dreams. His name is Alex and he shares Mink’s passion for the cinema. The two spend every day talking about their favourite flicks. All’s going well apart from the fact the pair have never actually met, don’t know each other’s real names and only speak online. Awks.
When Mink moves to California to live with her dad, she decides to track Alex down. A speed bump stops her dead in her tracks though when she meets the charismatic yet painfully annoying, Porter Roth. Mink’s met with a dilemma; will she continue to try and find Alex or give into the charming Porter?
It’s an epic summer read and Mink will quickly become one of your favourite YA characters. She’s sassy, independent and packed with bucketloads of glamour. So much so that we want to know whether you’re as glam as Mink.
