Pop Song Face-off of Doom: Elyar Fox vs Neon Jungle vs The Vamps. YOU DECIDE

Here is a completely random list of things we like here at MP! Towers: Amazing pop stars. Amazing new music. Amazing pop stars releasing amazing new music. Neon Jungle. Elyar Fox. The Vamps. Thankfully, the stars have aligned and we have been blessed with all of these things happening at once. Hurrah!

We’ve been hit with new singles from ALL of the above mentioned artists in the last week alone, but whose song is the best of the lot? This debate is as important as anything they blather on about in the House of Commons and with farther reaching socio-economic consequences… So without further ado, let us commence what is known in the industry as A POP SONG FACE-OFF OF DOOM. Who will triumph? Who will falter? Who will make us a cup of tea while we decide? All of these questions and more await…

SONGS UP FOR DEBATE: Elyar Fox – ‘A Billion Girls’, Neon Jungle – ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, The Vamps – ‘Last Night’

WHAT’S IT LIKE?
An uptempo, Bruno Mars-esque sing-a-long affair about the fact that, although there are quite literally billions of ladies around, Elyar only has eyes for you. Yes, you at the back there. Plus it has a chorus AND a post-chorus. We love a good post-chorus.

WHERE DOES IT RANK ON THE RAVE-O-METER?
Sadly this is quite low on the rave-o-meter but it’s okay you can still have a good bop to it.

IS IT AS GOOD AS THEIR LAST SINGLE?
Elyar’s debut single was a banger of epic proportions but ‘A Billions Girls’ sounds like a whole other kind of pop rock banger. Plus that chorus is pure boy band all over. We reckon it might actually be better than ‘Do It All Over Again’.

BEST BIT
That guitar riff with those great “oooh ooohs” at the very beginning. You just know you’re in for a treat straight away.

WHAT’S IT LIKE?
No messing about with these girls: This is basically ‘Braveheart’ Pt. 2 and even though we’ve only heard about 30 seconds of it, we are convinced the rest of it is going to be amazing.

WHERE DOES IT RANK ON THE RAVE-O-METER?
We are unable to gauge the exact ranking as the rave-o-meter broke within the first 3 seconds of the song. Suffice to say it is HIGH.

IS IT AS GOOD AS THEIR LAST SINGLE?
We’re not gonna lie: ‘Braveheart’ was so stupendously tremendous that we weren’t sure anything could top it, but ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ stands a very good chance of completing a hat trick of three stupendously tremendous singles in a row. WELL DONE GIRLS.

BEST BIT?
We shall reserve our opinion on that ’til we’ve heard the whole thing, but we imagine the inevitable ‘drop’ will leave all other bangers trembling in its wake.

WHAT’S IT LIKE?
This song is more summery than a summer’s day in Summer Town, Summer-tonia. It’s got cheerful pianos a-plenty, a bouncing beat and an instantly catchy chorus. Much like Neon Jungle, we are VERY glad that the boys decided not to go down the ballad route for single number 3 and kept things uptempo.

WHERE DOES IT RANK ON THE RAVE-O-METER?
This is far from a rave banger but it ranks very highly on the ‘super-happy sing-a-long-ditty-o-meter’, and that is quite alright with us.

IS IT AS GOOD AS THEIR LAST SINGLE?
‘Wild Heart’ was a great second single from the boys following ‘Can We Dance’, but we reckon ‘Last Night’ tops both of those songs put together. Yes, we said it. However, unless the boys put out twelve different versions of it then we may have to reconsider our opinion.

BEST BIT?
That opening piano riff and obligatory boy band “oh oh”s kick things off perfectly and our trip to Summer-tonia is complete.

…AND THE WINNER IS…
“But who wins?!” I hear you cry? Well thats up to you guys! Let us know by voting and leaving a comment below who you think should win the song-off of DOOM and take the crown*.

*We don’t actually have a crown but if somebody could lend us one that’d be great, cheers.

The vote closes Sunday at 9pm. The winner of the crown will be announced here.
