  • Hey Violet are an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, consisting of Miranda Miller (rhythm guitar/keyboard/vocals), Nia Lovelis (drums/vocals), Rena Lovelis (bass guitar/lead vocals) and Casey Moreta (lead guitar).
  • They originally formed in 2008 as Cherri Bomb with a girl called Julia Pierce (making it an all-female group), who was later replaced by Casey Moreta after her departure in 2013.
  • It was announced on January 23rd, 2013, via their Facebook page that Cherri Bomb had parted ways with Julia Pierce. When asked the reasoning behind Pierce’s departure, Miranda Miller commented on her Tumblr that it was due to “creative differences” and that “we went our separate ways because we wanted to go in one direction and she wanted to go in another”.
  • Guitarist Casey Moreta joined the band that year originally on a temporary basis, but on March 9th, 2013, Moreta was asked to join the band permanently while performing on stage at the Viper Room.
  • The name Cherri Bomb originated from “Cherry Bomb” book series by  Carrie Borzillo, including “Cherry Bomb – The Ultimate Guide to Becoming a Better Flirt”, “a Tougher Chick”, “a Hotter Girlfriend”, and” to Living Life Like a Rock Star”.
  • Julia Peirce was actually the founder of the band.
  • On June 14th, 2011, they signed to Hollywood Records.
  • Then on October the 18th, 2011, they released their debut EP, Stark.
  • The band released their debut studio album “This Is the End of Control” on May 15, 2012, which charted on Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums at number 24 and Top Heatseekers at number 1
  • In August 2012, they toured with the Welsh rock band Lostprophets.
  • They appeared on the Warped Tour in July–August 2012.
  • The band were opening acts for rock bands including Bush, Camp Freddy, Filter, Foo Fighters, The Smashing Pumpkins, Staind and Steel Panther.
  • They have also played several European festivals, including Oxegen in Ireland (the youngest act to appear), T in the Park in Scotland, Sonisphere and the Reading and Leeds Festivals.
  • Collectively they have a lot of dogs, and a tortoise as pets!
  • Rena and Nia are sisters.
  • Nia’s inspirations as a drummer include John Bonham, Cindy Blackman, Josh Freese, and Sheila E.
  • Rena and Nia work for the network Revolt.tv, headed by P. Diddy.
  • The band have worked with John Feldmann AKA Feldy who work with 5SOS.
  • Casey collects vinyl records.
  • Miranda loves Doctor Who.
  • In February 2015, the band changed their name to Hey Violet, as announced on their YouTube channel.
  • On the March 19th, they released their new single “This Is Why”.
  • On March 24th, it was announced that they would be signed to Hi Or Hey Records, which is 5 Seconds of Summer’s partnership record label with Capitol Records, and is their first signing.
  • They are also currently scheduled to support 5 Seconds of Summer on the USA, Canada, and Europe legs of their upcoming Rock Out With Your Socks Out Tour in 2015.
