When news of the freshly rebranded Apple Music Festival (formerly iTunes Festival) came out this morning, we all rushed to the website to check out the headliners. This is what we found.
One Direction, Disclosure, Pharrell Williams, and Florence + The Machine are the big names for the show this year, which will take place at London’s Roundhouse this September. If you squint, however, you can see each artist has a “special guest” listed under their name. For Florence + The Machine, it will be James Bay. For One Direction, it will be… Little Mix?
Amidst all the Perrie Edwards and Zayn Malik drama, it’s easy to forget that Little Mix and One Direction share the same X Factor beginnings—meaning they also share the same management and record company. So it doesn’t actually come as a huge to shock to think that, by having Little Mix as their special guest, they’re using One Direction’s massive stardom to help launch the girls’ fame a little higher.
However, when you now head on over to the Apple Music Festival website, it looks a bit different than it did this morning.
Uh, where’d all those “special guests” go? No mention of Little Mix or James Bay. So now it looks like we’re going to have to wait until 22 September, One Direction’s day to perform during the 10-day festival, to see if they have Little Mix for a special guest after all. For now, we’ll just keep watching the cute little video they made for Apple.
