One Direction (our ot4) took on South Africa by storm, shortly after Zayn leaving the group. This did not stop them from putting on an AMAZING show. We are insanely proud of them no matter what, and are eager for the rest of the tour to continue. Check out these top five highlights from their two shows in Johannesburg:
OUR ANGEL, HARRY Angel wings were thrown onto the FNB stadium stage, and of course Mr. Harry Styles puts them on and prances around the stage in them. Trust us, you’ll it. After the wings were thrown onstage, he made the mistake of inviting fans to throw things on stage, which resulted in Louis having a pink bra on his head. Anyways, Styles with angel wings on is being called “a fan fiction coming true”. What do you think? Tweet us @maximumpop
THINKING OUT LOUD We are absolutely OBSESSED with this tidbit of the lads singing close friend, Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’. The four blend insanely well and fans were startled, but pleasantly surprised by the gift. Fans held up their phones, similarly to the ‘Little Things’ traditions. So, full cover please?!
SHOWING SOUTH AFRICAN PRIDE All of the boys took turns sharing a South African flag thrown on stage. Liam wrapped it around Harry, and Niall waved it around over his head! The crew also went on a Safari in South Africa recently! We love that the boys embrace all new cultures everywhere they go.
OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW Although Directioners everywhere are still heartbroken about Zayn, the rest of the boys are still continuing together as the foursome, and we couldn’t be happier. This has called for, however, a new intro video minus Zayn. Many fans are upset over the new intro, but it was bound to happen after his decision to leave. Either way, the boys are still putting on incredible shows for their fans, and we urge you to get involved in the OTRA fan projects!
KILLER STADIUM The boys had the privilege of performing at the First National Bank Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg. The stadium holds over 94,000+ people, making it the largest stadium they have performed at thus far on their OTRA. It is also home to the 2010 World Cup, and concerts held by U2, Coldplay and Bon Jovi. The boys just about tie with U2 for the record attendance at their concert!
We are thrilled to see the tour continue, and a FIFTH ALBUM on its way. We’re so proud of Harry, Niall, Louis, and Liam. NEXT STOP: CAPE TOWN
