One Direction Daily: All the goss from night 1 at Croke Park

A daily 1D update from your favourite Directioner fan accounts on Twitter. Here’s the biggest stories from the last 24 hours, compiled by our friends Sophie (@Sophie_5SOS) from @1DTVUK.

Last night at Croke Park was always going to be about a certain blonde, cherubic young local lad. The streets were full of unofficial Niall merch, with children as young as 4 proudly wearing items showing images of the boy from Mullingar.

The support act 5SOS finally arrived on stage 30 mins later than fans expected. By this time everyone on the pitch was wet due to the earlier rain, but that didn’t dampen anyone’s spirit, once they started their opening song “Eighteen”. Luckily Ashton had his own purpose- built gazebo to protect him and his new drum-kit, which he was very proud of! They were on stage for 30 mins, blowing the crowd away with their performance.

50 mins later, the massive video screens sprung into action, showing the amazing places One Direction will be visiting on this tour. Then the introduction started with Midnight Memories, accompanied by fireworks and pyrotechnics, the lads appeared on stage to deafening screams.

As mentioned before the night belonged to Niall, every time he moved the Irish fans went wild!  He was very emotional all night saying how it was almost 4 years to the day since he auditioned for The X Factor at Croke Park and here he was playing in front of over 70,000 people saying it was the best night of his life.

All he needs now is for Derby to beat QPR in today’s Championship Final at Wembley and he will be the happiest guy on the planet!!

The show was spectacular with lots of fireworks & streamers adding to the amazing performance from the guys.

An hour into the show it started raining heavily again, not a problem they would have had on the South American leg but this was Ireland after all!
The fans and the band didn’t care they were getting soaked but poor Liam slipped spectacularly during Best Song Ever with Louis rushing to help him up.

They performed for just under 2 hours ending with a fantastic firework display & everyone went home ecstatically happy if not a little wet, but not one person in the stadium cared!
