Those 1D boys have only gone and broken another bloomin’ record, haven’t they? This time on the albums chart, with their latest offering ‘Midnight Memories’ becoming the biggest selling album of 2013!
The album’s managed to sell almost 700,000 copies in just five weeks, beating Emeli Sande’s ‘Our Version Of Events’, which has sold 683,000 copies this year. We bet somebody’s annoyed… 237,000 copies of ‘Midnight Memories’ were sold in its first week of release, also making it the fastest selling album of the year.
One Direction’s very own Liam Payne has been in contact with the Official Charts Company to let them know about the boyband’s delight, saying “This tops an amazing year for us! We’re so excited to have the biggest selling album of the year, especially with a record we are all so proud of. We’d like to thank everyone who has bought the album, it really means a lot to us.” We’re sure good old Santa Claus is to thank for a few of those sales!
